Volunteer and make a difference!

Shelter2Rescue is always looking for good reliable people to volunteer with many different areas. Rescue work is not easy and not something you can do alone. Volunteers help with everything from walking dogs at events, maintaining cat condos to fostering long and short term. The two greatest volunteer needs are fostering and transportation. Without these two things the rescue can’t help as many animals. Transportation is needed for adoption events and when out of the area rescues or adopters tag animals from the shelters we work with. If you can’t foster at your house, you could always volunteer by doing home visits or visiting the cats/kittens in the cat condos in Petco to give them socialization.

Do you want to help but don’t get out much? Not all of volunteering requires you to leave your home. You can help with post-adoption follow up calls, adoption application processing, and web site support. To find out what you can do to help Shelter2Rescue save more lives please email: volunteer@shelter2rescue.org or fill out the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION.

FOSTERING

Shelter2Rescue is completely foster-based and  have no building or shelter, so we rely on the kindness of other animal lovers to open up their homes. Can you make room for a shelter animal that is in danger of being euthanized. You can foster as many or as few animals as you wish. The Rescue will match you with the appropriate animal for your home and family environment.

Hundreds of animals are euthanized every day in Texas shelters. If they only had a place to stay for a little while, many of them could be saved. Fostering is easier than you might think!  You will have support every step of the way.  If you are willing to open up your home to a homeless animal, we will provide the support and mentoring that you need.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FOSTER FAMILY

Provide a safe, clean, and caring environment

Provide exercise and socialization as needed for each animal

Monitor any medical and/or behavior problems

Transport to/from any necessary vet appointments

Transport to/from offsite adoption events

FOSTERING UNTIL ADOPTION:

All vet care, heartworm and flea prevention is paid for by Shelter2Rescue, as well as food, and a crate. All you have to do is love and care for the animal while in your care. Your foster will remain in your home until adopted.

TEMPORARY FOSTERING:

Ever thought about fostering, but didn’t want to make a long-term commitment?  Or do you feel that you just couldn’t let your foster go? Perhaps temp fostering might just be the thing for you!  Temp fostering is short term, usually less than a month. Usually this is for when a dog or cat is waiting on transport to another rescue or their forever home.  Any animal going into this program are already spoken for and just need a safe place to hang out while they are waiting on their ride!
